Online Workshop: Intercultural Cities

On behalf of the international University of British Columbia (UBC) Centre for Cultural Planning and Development, I am pleased to tell you that we are offering a new online professional development workshop, Intercultural Cities with Phil Wood, principal advisor to the Council of Europe Intercultural Cities programme, starting February 9, 2015.


Three scheduled online sessions. Mon Feb 9, 16 & 23, 10am-12noon PDT. 100% Online

Designed for those working in the field of community planning and development from around the world. this workshop will explore the ways in which global cities and smaller towns are coming to terms with contemporary multi-ethnic reality as part of the Intercultural Cities Movement. On completion of this workshop you will:

Be able to differentiate between various policy approaches to urban cultural diversity
Understand how cities have designed and implemented intercultural city strategies
Be equipped with practical tools for devising and implementing intercultural strategies in your own community.

INSTRUCTOR: Phil Wood is principal advisor to the Council of Europe on its Intercultural Cities programme and the architect of its methodology. His book, The Intercultural City: Planning for Diversity Advantage (co-authored with Charles Landry) was published in 2008.

This workshop can be taken individually, or applied towards the UBC Certificate in Cultural Planning – an international professional learning program delivered 100% online.
